The Institute was first established in February 2009 by a Presidential Directive issued to the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES). This was later followed by Statutory Instrument 31. The Institute was officially launched by His Excellency the President, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, on the 3rd October 2012

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR GLOBALLY CERTIFIED SKILLS IN OIL AND GAS UNDER PRIVATE SPONSORSHIP

Uganda Petroleum Institute Kigumba (UPIK) is an accredited Center for International Vocational Qualifications (IVQs) Training in Oil and Gas. The Institute  is an Approved Center for City and Guilds and in the final stages of gaining accreditation by Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB). UPIK will be soon become Africa’s first accredited Oil and Gas Training Center by Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organization (OPITO), the world’s most highly ranked Authority in Oil and Gas Training.

Established by the Statutory Instrument No.31 of 2011, entitled,“The Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions (Establishment of Uganda Petroleum Institute – Kigumba), UPIK is a Government Tertiary Institution under the Ministry of Education and Sports.

Working in Partnership with the World bank and IFP France, UPIK recently developed highly competitive, internationally adapted, and recognised Competency Based Training Programmes for Petroleum Operations and Maintanance Programmes.

The Office of the Academic Registrar now invites all interested applicants; Ugandans, East African Nationals and International Candidates for the first cohort of trainees who will begin this year.

ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES:
Eligible Candidates for the International Vocational Qualification Programmes should have:
Prior learning in relevant science and engineering fields or at least one year of industrial experience in a related field.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE & DEADLINE:
Hard Copy applications can be obtained from the Academic Registrar’s office,
OR downloaded from www.upik.ac.ug and returned after payment of a nonrefundable
application fee of UGX 55,000 (including Bank Charges) to:

AND 27th January 2020 5:00 pm for;
IVQ Upstream Petroleum Operations, IVQ Downstream Petroleum Operations and IVQ Instrumentation Maintenance
