At Viva College School, we follow the Uganda National Examinations Board(UNEB) Ordinary (‘O’) and Advanced(‘A’) level syllabi and meet all the statutory requirements associated with UNEB and National Curriculum Development Centre(NCDC).

We believe that the UNEB curriculum offers students opportunities to learn from a wide range of subjects with the potential to develop their individual skills and to determine their preferences. To this end, therefore, we offer the compulsory UNEB subjects at O’ level and in S1 and 2 our students experience a range of subjects in Sciences, Humanities, Creative Arts, Languages. This informs their choices at O’ level in S3, along with their teachers’ advice and their parents’ input.

Our O’ level offer ensures that all Viva College School students complete the maximum 10 subjects allowed by UNEB at O’ level. Students study the compulsory subjects which are: Mathematics, English, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, History and Geography.

At A’ level all students study General Paper, which is compulsory and develops their Critical Thinking and Essay writing skills. Students at this level join one of the two bands; Sciences or Arts. Students must study either Subsidiary Maths if they opt for Economics, or ICT if they opt for Entrepreneurship.

There is room for students to choose Maths if they are in the Arts band or Business subjects if they are in the Sciences band but a very small number opts that and so we have taken the decision to rationalise this into one group per subject where this makes better sense in terms of numbers on the timetable.  We do not run certain combinations for classes smaller than 10 students.
