Ophthalmic Clinical Officers Training School provides clinical officer training, more so in the field of Ophthalmology to produce Competent and well trained Ophthalmic Clinical Officers (Health workers) for improved (eye) health in Uganda and beyond.

Ophthalmic Clinical Officers’ Training School, Jinja was started as a joint venture by the Uganda Government (Ministry of Health) and the then Royal Common wealth Society for the Blind (now Sight Savers) in 1989. The training of Ophthalmic Clinical Officers was piloted in Mulago National Referral Hospital after which the school was transferred to the then Jinja Provincial Hospital (now, Jinja Regional Referral Hospital).

Diploma Clinical Ophthalmology

The one-year Diploma in Clinical Ophthalmology will enhance your knowledge of common ocular diseases, ophthalmic surgical and laser procedures, clinical anatomy and ocular therapeutics. You will develop analytical skills for solving clinical cases and evaluating published research, and gain valuable research experience through the opportunity to undertake a clinical library-based dissertation.

Aim:

Our Clinical Ophthalmology Diploma Programme aims at producing a graduate who will be equipped with knowledge, attitudes and skills in preventing and curing eye diseases in order to promote health.
