BUSITEMA UNIVERSITY FUND (SMC) LTD is a Company limited by guarantee under the sole ownership of Busitema University Council. The Fund was formed with the objective of engaging in commercial investments to generate income for the University in order to supplement government funding. Among the key investments that the Company is undertaking is a dynamic Auto garage/service bay that is geared towards providing exceptional automobile services to the members of Busitema University community and other clients in the region and the country at large. The garage is located at Busitema University main campus. The Board of Directors seeks to recruit qualified, experienced and dedicated staff to fill the following available positions

1. JOB TITLE: GARAGE SUPERVISOR REPORTS TO: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER JOB SUMMARY: The main duty of a Garage Supervisor is to oversee repair/service of automobiles in the garage and monitor work conducted by the Technicians. The supervision exercised is of an administrative as well as of a technical nature. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must have:  A Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.  Significant experience of at least two years in a reputable garage with ability to demonstrate strong managerial and organizational skills. Roles and Responsibilities:  To carry out supervision of service, repairs and maintenance of vehicles brought to the garage.  Inspect all work in progress in the garage and give instructions to Technicians regarding methods and details of repairs.  The overall overseer of all the assets for service and repair of vehicles in the garage ensuring that they are properly used and adequately secured.  To bill the service and repair of vehicles and submit the same to the project Accountant for invoicing and subsequent remittance to the clients for payments.  To be in charge of inventory of vehicles in and out of the service bay ensuring that the necessary records of vehicles brought and taken out are accurately kept.  Carry out regular stock taking of inventory in the store and request for replenishment of items and purchase of new ones.

 Make monthly reports on the operations of the garage/service bay.  Any other duties that may be assigned by the management of the Fund. Behavioral competencies:  Excellent knowledge of automobile technical repair and service work.  Knowledge of occupational hazards and the necessary safety precautions  Good communication skills both oral and written  Good listening skills as well as ability to follow instructions and implement them with accuracy.  Practical skills that guarantee good quality of work done.  Self-organized and assertive  Ability to solve problems that arise in the course of operations. 2. JOB TITLE: MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN II REPORTS TO: GARAGE SUPERVISOR JOB SUMMARY: This job entails carrying out routine mechanical repairs/service of all categories of vehicles and ensures their proper performance and safety MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must have:  A Certificate in Motor Vehicle Technicians Craft Course Part II  Must possess a valid driving permit class C, M and B.  Must have undertaken a defensive driving course  Experience of 2 years in a similar job and in a reputable organization. Roles and responsibilities:  To carry out vehicle service and repairs of all vehicles brought to the garage with diligence and to the satisfaction of the clients.  To carry out vehicle assessment for service and repairs and report the same to the Supervisor.

 Make quotations of materials used for service and repair to be submitted to the Supervisor for billing and eventual invoicing.  To test drive the vehicles to check whether work has been done effectively and also identify any other mechanical problems that were not recorded.  Maintain accurate and updated records of preventive maintenance  Fill the service cards of items used.  Make monthly reports on the operations of the garage.  Any other duties that may be assigned by the Garage Supervisor. Behavioral competencies:  Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and perform repairs with minimum supervision  Excellent knowledge on how to operate equipment and tools involved in vehicle repair and service

 Ability to lift heavy equipment and vehicle parts  High level of problem solving skills.  Good analytical skills with a very good eye for details  Excellent communication skills.

3. JOB TITLE: MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN I REPORTS TO: MECHANICAL TECHINCIAN II JOB SUMMARY: The purpose of this job is to assist the Mechanical Technician II during the course of his work and ensure that the garage premises are clean and in order MINIMUM REQIUREMENTS Must have:  A Certificate in Motor Vehicle Technicians Craft Course Part I  Experience of 2 years in a similar job and in a reputable organization Roles and responsibilities:  To carry out thorough cleaning of the service bay area  To take charge of tools and equipment in the garage  Assist the Mechanical Technician II during the process of service and repair  In charge of service and maintenance of the tools and equipment in the garage  Any other duties as may be assigned by Mechanical Technician II Behavioral competencies:  Ability to use assorted hand tools and equipment in the garage  Must possess a high degree of integrity and trust  Exhibit a high level of orderliness and cleanness  Ability to follow instructions and implement them with a high level of accuracy.

4. JOB TITLE: STORES ASSISTANT REPORTS TO: GARAGE SUPERVISOR JOB SUMMARY: To ensure proper receipt, storage and issuance of stores, supplies and equipment in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations of the Fund and the University in general MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Must have:  A Diploma in Stores Management or Diploma in Procurement and Supplies Chain Management.  Experience of at least 2 years in a busy organization. Roles and responsibilities;  To supervise the receiving, recording and storing of items supplied in the store  To receive requisitions and orders and issue stores and supplies  To take stock levels of the stores and make appropriate reports for replenishment  To take and verify stores invoices

To maintain all record of stores received and issued out  To maintain facilities for preservation, packaging and storage of goods supplied  To offload obsolete goods from stores and ensure their proper disposal  To ensure adherence to safety and security procedures for items at the stores premises  To prepare monthly reports  To ensure proper procedures of custody of stores keys  To manage and account for the Fund’s stores resources  To receive returns to stores  To send suppliers documents to the Accountant to process for payments  Any other related duties that may be assigned by the Garage Supervisor.
