ActionAid Uganda’s mission is to achieve social Justice, gender equality, and poverty eradication by working with people living in extreme poverty and exclusion, their communities, people’s organizations, activists, social movements and their supporters. Due to expansion in scope of our Programmes, we are now seeking to recruit a suitably qualified, self-driven, result oriented, dynamic and competent person willing to share with our Vision and the aspirations of our 5th Strategy to join the team in the following role:
Position: Program Manager People’s Action for Democratic Governance (1)
Report To: Director Programs and Policy
Responsible For: Cluster Coordinator- Gulu Project Coordinators
Location: Head Office-Kampala
Job Role:
Lead the design, development and implementation of Programmes and projects in people’s action for democratic governance in accordance with the 5th Strategy Paper and overall ActionAid Uganda aspirations, policies and goals. This role will strengthen AAU in Programme development for the thematic area, build staff and partner capacity along the thematic area, mobilize resource and grow the program, create synergies with other thematic areas and ensure rootedness and connectedness of the theme issues from local, national, to regional and international. The role is expected to identify issues within the thematic area that need policy influencing and engagement. .

Person Specifications Qualification:
• A Bachelor’s Degree in law, Humanities or any other related field.
• A relevant postgraduate qualification and training in human rights-based approaches, law, human empowerment, democracy and governance is an added advantage.
• A minimum of six years of relevant work experience three of these should have been at similar managerial level in a reputable organization.
• Experience in managing social accountability and advocacy for people centered service delivery programmes.
• Experience with anti-corruption and budget advocacy campaigns
