Serwanga-Lwanga Memorial School

By | February 27, 2024

The school garden is cultivated by 41 students of which 21 are girls from senior one and senior two classes only. Currently, the garden measures 1.5 acres of land where crops like potatoes, bananas, cassava, beans and cabbages are grown. The seeds planted are collected by students from their homes. The fertilizers applied to manage soil fertility are procured by the school administration on request from the participants.

Water for irrigation is fetched using plastic jerricans from the nearby boreholes. Pests and diseases are still a big challenge in the garden. The school administration hopes in the future to involve more students in the project through events organized in the garden, and also growing more food to be shared by all students.
