The Cornerstone Leadership Academy in Rwanda opened in 2007, and is situated on top of a hill overlooking Lake Muhazi, in the highlands of Eastern Rwanda, 40mins drive from Kigali town. This boarding school is a co-ed campus, empowering both young men and young women in the same learning environment.
With the overarching vision of developing the cornerstones of Africa’s next generation, our strategic approach has been to invest deeply in a few, who will, over the course of their lives, positively impact many more. To this end, our teachers and administrators strive to be more than just vessels of knowledge or instruction, but rather, to be mentors investing in our the students, nurturing them holistically in order to unleash their real potential and purpose in life.
Academics
All of our schools follow national education curriculum of the country in which they are based. Each of our schools offer different combinations of subjects depending on both the schools infrastructural capacity and the respective national curriculum requirements.
In all of our Leadership Academies, we have consistently performed in the top 95% of schools taking the national, standardized High School final exams.
We realize that good academic performance is not just about one’s mental capacity, but on supportive, holistic environment. Our experience has been, that when a student is healthy socially, physically, and spiritually, they will perform better mentally.

Admission to the Cornerstone Leadership Academies are purely on a scholarship basis only, in that, out of thousands of applicants each year scholarships are awarded to the best 20-25 boys and 20-25 girls each year to make up the entire class cohort. Students who recieve these scholarships do not pay school fees.
The Ekitangaala schools are fee paying and open to the public. Day and boarding options are availiable.
Cornerstone Leadership Academies are “Advanced Level” boarding, high schools that aim at molding young people with high potential – into future leaders.
The schools are among the Cornerstone Development Africa organisation’s programs that Cornerstone runs in the East African region i.e. Congo, Kenya, Burundi, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan, and Uganda.

- Being selected for this scholarship will be based on leadership potential, academic potential and willingness to study principles of leadership and character development.
