THE ACADEMIC REGISTRAR, SOROTI UNIVERSITY INVITES APPLICATIONS
FOR THE BACHELOR OF ENGINEERING IN ELECTRONICS AND COMPUTER
ENGINEERING PROGRAMME UNDER THE FOLLOWING SCHEMES:
i. UGANDA GOVERNMENT SPONSORSHIP SCHEME FOR THE 2020/2021
ACADEMIC YEAR
ii. PRIVATE SPONSORSHIP SCHEME FOR THE 2020/2021 ACADEMIC
YEAR
PROGRAMME PROFILE
This programme will offer unique training in both electronic hardware and software, producing graduates who have capability to design and develop a wide range of computer-based electronic systems. The University has invested in leading-edge electronic and software laboratories in which learners will enjoy the opportunity to acquire unique skills in both programming and practical electronic systems to enable
them solve real world problems.

Graduates will be capable of linking complex hardware to software, designing simultaneously the hardware and software interfaces to connect the physical world to the virtual world for application in many areas such as homes, schools, hospitals, government, leisure, trade, transport, industry, and business enterprises.
1) ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION
Admission requirements for the Programme are specified in the Avenues below:
EITHER

DIRECT ENTRY SCHEME
i. Have Sat the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent and obtained at least five passes.
ii. Have Sat and obtained TWO (2) Principal passes in Mathematics and Physics at ‘A’ Level (UACE) OR its equivalent at the same sitting.
iii. Only Candidates who sat ‘A’ Level in 2019, 2018 and 2017 are eligible to apply for Direct Entry on Government Scholarship.
OR
b) DIPLOMA HOLDERS ENTRY SCHEME
i. Hold at least a Second Class/Credit Class (or equivalent classification) diploma with at least a Credit Pass in Mathematics.
ii. Only holders of the Ordinary Technical Diploma awarded by the Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board OR Uganda National Examinations Board (or its equivalent) can be admitted to the Programme.
iii. Must have fulfilled the minimum requirements for entry into a Diploma
Programme
iv. Certified copies of Academic Transcripts and Certificates (not photocopies of certified copies) from the awarding Institutions must be scanned and sent to Email: ar@sun.ac.ug after applying online.
OR DEGREE HOLDERS ENTRY SCHEME
c) Be a graduate from a recognized chartered University in a relevant field.

i. Candidates who hold Grades X, Y, Z, 7 and 9 of ‘O-‘Level results should not apply because they are not eligible

a) APPLICATION IS ONLINE FOR ALL APPLICANTS AND CAN BE ACCESSED FROM OUR WEBSITE www.sun.ac.ug. WITH EFFECT FROM 12th OCTOBER 2020.
b) DIPLOMA/DEGREE HOLDERS WILL HAVE TO SUBMIT CERTIFIED COPIES OF ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPTS AND CERTIFICATES (NOT PHOTOCOPIES OF
CERTIFIED COPIES) FROM THE AWARDING INSTITUTIONS.
THESE MUST BE SCANNED AND SENT TO Email: ar@sun.ac.ug as a single PDF after applying online.
c) INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS WILL SUBMIT CERTIFIED COPIES OF THEIR TRANSCRIPTS AND CERTIFICATES AND A PASSPORT SIZE PHOTOGRAPH TO ar@sun.ac.ug
