The First Lady and minister of education, Janet Museveni, on Saturday announced that all schools and teachers’ colleges are to potentially resume operations on April 27 if the COVID-19 pandemic is contained in the country.

Museveni indicated that the first term will run up to June 12 while the second term will start on June 22. Universities will resume the first semester on May 2.

The minister also directed the institutions not to charge students any additional fees when school resumes and that they will not sit end-of-term examinations.

President Yoweri Museveni last month ordered the closure of all the primary and secondary schools as well as all the universities and tertiary institutions for one month starting on April 20.
