FCA: 2020 Teachers without Borders Volunteer Recruitment

We are looking for volunteer educational professionals to support our work in FCA country offices in Uganda, Cambodia and Palestinian region.

Teachers without Borders volunteers support the capacity and pedagogical skills of local teachers and other education sector actors. The tasks of the volunteers vary according to the country and the project. The volunteer work may include providing training and mentoring, developing teacher-training materials, cooperation with education sector actors or developing the role of career guidance and counselling in schools.

The volunteer periods are between 3 to 12 months and take place during 2020 or early 2021.

General criteria:

  • Candidates must be over 25 years old
  • Degree in Education or other relevant field and minimum 2 years of relevant work experience (at least one of which must be within Finnish education sector)
  • Good written and oral skills of English (the knowledge of local language is an advantage)
  • International experience, preferably from a developing country, and ability to work in multicultural working environment
  • Ability to share pedagogical knowledge in a way that is suitable for the local context
  • Teamwork and cooperation skills as well as ability to work with various stakeholders
  • Intercultural awareness, flexibility and willingness to learn and adapt to the local context
  • Communication skills
  • Good physical and mental health. The work usually includes travelling to remote, challenging and/or post-disaster environments
  • Strong stress management skills, as well as willingness and ability to work in challenging situations
  • In addition, position specific qualifications that are defined in Terms of Reference

Instructions for applying:

1. Read the Terms of Reference for each country carefully and choose 1-3 locations which reflect your competencies the best. 

2. Prepare the attachments:

  • CV in English
  • Listing of 1-3 countries you are applying to & the earliest and the last date of your availability and whether these dates are flexible.

3. Please fill the application form in English:

  • Your special knowledge: in this section, tell about your relevant skills for the position (for example, experience on training, mentoring, working or living abroad and/or in multicultural environment or NGO experience).
  • Why you are interested in this position: in this section, tell about your motivation and why would you like to volunteer with us.

4. The pre-selected candidates are asked for an interview and to do an online-based written task.

Schedule:

2.3.-22.3.2020 Call is open. The call ends at 23.59. 

6.4.-24.4. The pre-selected candidates are contacted and the interviews will be conducted. The interviews are held via Skype.

5.-7.6. The selected candidates attend a training in Helsinki. The training is free of charge.
