St. Karoli Lwanga Nyakibale School of Nursing and Midwifery

The School has been selected as a recipient for funding from two major sources – the IP-BTVET program through the Ministry of Education & Sports and the German Development Bank and also the Danida project through the Ministry of Education and the Danish Government.

Plans are underway to build a new administration block, practical training room, additional classrooms and a new hostel. In addition to infrastructure, the projects will also assist in providing additional training materials, books, practical equipment and staff development

Courses Offered

Karoli Lwanga School of Nursing and Midwifery is currently offering the following courses:

1.Enrolled General Nursing – 2 ½ year course leading to certification as an Enrolled Nurse

2.Enrolled Midwifery – 2 ½ year course leading to a certification as an Enrolled Midwife

3.Enrolled Comprehensive Nursing – 2 ½ year course leading to Certification in Comprehensive Nursing – the curriculum ivolves nursing midwifery, and community health

4. Registered Nursing – development in process

Admission Requirement

Entry Requirements: The minimum education standard for admission toe Enrolled Nursing Course, Enrolled Midwifery Course, or Enrolled Comprehensive Course* shall be the Uganda Certificate of Education – U.C.E.- [Ordinary Level Certificate] or ills equivalent with at least six [6] passes, which should be:
Biology Mathematics Chemistry Physics and one other A Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education — UAC.E.

Admission Criteria:Applicants for Nurse Training at Enrolled level must: meet the required minimum educational standard not more than three [3] years before the date of application for admission  pass an entry examination to the course  Satisfy the selection panel at an oral interview
Conform to the standards of medical fitness required by the training authority
Have attained the age of 17* years, to be accepted as eligible for training *Applicants for Enrolled Comprehensive Nursing must be 18 years old.Applicants for Midwifery must be female.
