Job Summary: Planning and implementing the
company’s financial strategy, business information databases and costs inline
with the company objectives, business guidelines and data processing guide
lines
- Availability and optimal utilisation of
funds - Timely annual and other periodic budgets
- A proper payments function
- Timely submission of performance reports
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Treasury and Investment
Management
- Maintaining good internal liquidity and
efficient fund management - Identifying and evaluating all investment
opportunities with a view to maximising revenues. - Timely and accurate preparation of the
Assets and Liabilities Management reports by the 5th day of the
following month i.e. economic analysis, liquidity risk analysis, interest
rate risk and currency risk reports and compliance ratios. - Supervising Head Office and branch wide
weekly and monthly bank reconciliations and ensuring that no items are
left outstanding for more than 30 days.
Financial Transactions
Management
- Reviewing the coding of all financial
transactions to ensure conformity with the best accounting practices - Managing the costing of all transactions
- Managing all expenses within the
approved budget - Checking payments for all the necessary
supporting documents and compliance with local and international
regulations - Taking custody of all payment
instruments and legal documents
Financial Planning and
control
- Participating in the preparation of the
strategic business plan - Coordinating the preparation of the
annual operational and capital budgets - Implementing,monitoring and controlling
capital and operational expenditures - Preparing detailed budget variance
reports for both the capital and operational expenditure by branch and cost
centre clearly explaining any variances and recommending course of action
for adverse variations - Coordinating the review of budgets as
required by the management. - Managing the company’ s operating cost
base, achievements of low cost environment and generating reports on
effective cost management inline with the company policy and payments
system. - Tracking and engineering cost reduction
initiatives with a view to offering the best service at the least cost.
- Preparing monthly management reports
i.e. Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss statements analysis year on year,
month on month, budget vs actual, forecasts, trend analysis and ratio
analysis by Branch /Branch performance and consolidated level by the 5th
day of the following month. - Analysing key performance indicators of
the company and providing information to internal stakeholders for
strategic decision making inline with the business plan - Preparing Product costing and pricing
reports by the 25th day of the month following end of quarter - Participating in the preparation of the
annual report - Obtain and update all inputs for the
monthly RALCO reporting park
Human Resources Management
- Carrying out on the job
training/knowledge transfer with respect t0 analytical techniques to
entities external to finance department through active participation in
line with the company’s training policy and objectives - Developing, managing and evaluating the
performance of reports with respect to the set key result areas inline
with the HR policies - Identifying training needs for subordinate
staff. - Participating in the preparation of
final accounts and liaising with internal and external auditors in
conducting annual audits
Supervises the effective
provision of administrative services
- Develop policies and ensure compliance
in implementation. - Supervise the work of the administration
staff in procurement/ stores, utilization and control of vehicles, and
telephone/internet utilization; - Handles contract administration related
to services, office premises, courier services, custodian services and the
like - Maintains insurance policies and ensures
that all claims are settled without undue losses to the organization.
Any
other duties as may be assigned by supervisor. preparing reports, budgets,
commentaries and financial statements
- Undertaking financial administration and
internal audits - Liaising with managerial staff and other
colleagues - Supervising a team of accounting
technicians - Developing and managing financial
systems/policies - Negotiating and obtaining finance for
major projects - Controlling and forecasting income and
expenditure - Creating business strategies to generate
shareholder value.
Other
Competencies/Attributes:
- Must be a committed Christian, able to
stand above denominational diversities - Attend and participate in the leadership
of daily devotions.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate must hold a
University Degree in Accountancy or Business Administration or BCOM. - Experience in Microfinance is preferred
- A professional accountant (CPA/ACCA)
with at least 4 years’ experience in the same field
