International Inc., a US-based international development organization, seeks a Social Worker Pre-Service Specialist for the anticipated USAID five-year Integrated Child and Youth Development (ICYD) Activity in Uganda. This activity will aim to improve youth learning outcomes (P1-P4 reading in local language and English), while ensuring that children and youth are safe and healthy in their community and learning environments. Specifically, this activity will improve learning outcomes, address primary school retention, provide technical assistance to orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) service providers, and employ high-impact local partnerships to accomplish the activity’s objectives.
This position will be based in Kampala, Uganda with intermittent travel
throughout the country.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead project management, including operations, administration, human
    resources, finance, and technical oversight
  • Build and maintain relationships with USAID, country counterparts,
    and strategic partners
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop, present, and implement a
    strategic, long-term programmatic vision
  • Oversee and supervise project staff, project work planning,
    performance management, and strategic communications, driving the
    project’s direction, performance, and adherence to USAID and Chemonics
    policies and procedures

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate must hold a Master’s degree in international
    development, public administration, public policy, economics, or relevant
    field preferred;
  • At least 10 years of relevant work experience managing governance
    and accountability programs, both at national and local levels;
  • Experience in and working knowledge of Uganda, including work with
    the public and private sectors and civil society, strongly preferred;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams, subcontractors, and grantees;
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills required;
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
