VenturesLab was founded in 2005 by Mark Mai and legendary venture capitalist Tim Draper. It was China’s first internet-business incubator. In 2010, VenturesLab started to mainly focus on early stage investment and became a top name among China entrepreneur community. It incubated and invested in nearly 100 startups since 2005 across many kinds of Internet related fields. VenturesLab shares business expertise, tears and cheers with like-minded entrepreneurs dedicated to developing China’s internet industry. The total portfolios market cap amounts for $ 5 billion including a few M&A and two IPOs in China and US.

Mark Mai is a serial entrepreneur and a pioneer in China’s venture investment field. He started his venture capital career back to mid 90s and co-founded Shanghai Pudong Ventures, one of China’s first venture capital firms. He was also the venture partner of DFJ Dragon fund in Silicon Valley in the early 2000s.

Mark started his entrepreneur career by starting his first venture eFriendsNet in 2003, which was the earliest and became the largest social network at the time in China. The company was later acquired by French public company Meetic. Subsequently Mark founded VenturesLab in 2005, China’s first internet-business incubator, along with legendary venture capitalist Tim Draper. He co-founded four additional technology companies after eFriendsNet, including TongCard, China’s largest social CRM provider, later acquired by Tencent; Docin, largest document sharing website in China; Togic, largest smart TV content aggregation service and hardware provider in China; and OKCoin, world’s largest Bitcoin exchange

Mark was named top angel investor in China for numerous times by different renowned organizations including China Ventures, CYzone, TheFounder, Zero2IPO, iResearch, ZhongGuanCun Angel Alliance, etc. He co-founded China Young Angel Investor Association (CYAIA) in 2013 and served as the current president. CYAIA is now the biggest and most influential angel investor organization in China.

Mark graduated from Renmin University of China with Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and received his MBA Degree from UCLA Anderson School of Management with focus on Entrepreneurship and was awarded the first prize winner of Knapp Venture Competition at UCLA.
