Makerere University DRGT Conducts PhD Training In Scholarly Writing And Communication Skills 2019

Today, Monday 19th August 2019, I officiated at the opening of the one-week PhD training course in Scholarly writing and Communication Skills (19th – 23rd August 2019) happening at the Main Library, Makerere University. Over 80 Doctoral candidates will undergo intensive mentorship and apprenticeship in wordsmithing and communication.

From our experience of supervising the doctoral training value-chain, we well know that many of our PhD students regularly solicit for help with scholarly writing and presentations in English, with no one-stop Technical Writing Centre to provide the required guidance. We are also alive to the fact that the students spend the bulk of their time writing and preparing to present at academic conferences. It is therefore only rational that we invest in training and enhancing their writing and academic communication skills.

We have assembled a competent team of resource persons with appreciable knowledge in scholarly publishing and writing and we are confident that they will help equip our students with the knowledge and skills in effective writing and presentations.
