About the role

As part of Fenix’s engagement to bring life-changing to products to theirs customers Fenix is expanding its product base to include a new range of clean-cooking products and services (CCPS). Fenix is looking for an experienced, highly motivated, innovative and  well organised Safety Officer to join this new team. This position is a unique opportunity to join a rapidly growing company at the front lines of renewable and mobile payment technology. Candidates should expect a fast-paced startup culture. They will be expected to become familiar with all safety aspects relevant to our product,  maintain a rigorous safety protocol and suggest ways to improve the safety of our product and testing procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform testing on all products during manufacturing to ensure a high quality and safe product
  • Test and approve each unit prior to release for sale
  • Identify safety risks in our manufacturing process and propose robust solutions
  • Write internal safety strategies
  • Train employees on proper safety procedures
  • Liaise with local authorities to guarantee compliance with regional laws
  • Be the in- house expert on relevant safety standards for product storage, delivery and product use
  • Perform periodic emergency training for all team members
  • Coordinates with engineers, manufacturing personnel and sales representatives to discuss safety precautions

Required Skills & Experience

  • Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety with 5 years experience or a bachelors degree and 5 years experience in a relevant field
  • Strict adherence to written procedures
  • Knowledge of occupational safety principles
  • Skill in developing safety policies
  • Desired Skills
  • Experience with LPG cooking gas
  • Experience working with UNBS
  • Technical background
  • Knowledge of French is a plus
