REPORTS TO: Technical Advisor – TB
SUPERVISES: None
Job Summary: The TB Officer is responsible for offering technical support for designing, coordinating and monitoring implementation of the nationally recommended TB interventions; and supporting cluster, district and facility teams to effectively implement and report on such interventions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Actively participate in coordination of implementation of TB case management and prevention activities in the RHITES-EC supported districts
- Participate in capacity enhancement activities including organizing tailored site mentorships to address performance and quality gaps in TB programming
- Work with district and health sub-district TB focal persons to plan and conduct support supervision, mentoring and coaching activities using the Quality Improvement approach in line with the national quality improvement framework
- Lead in routine assessment and identification of service delivery gaps and capacity building needs for ensuring quality services across the continuum of the HIV and TB response
- Support the district teams to develop/update, implement and monitor their respective TB district Action Plans (DAPs)
- Participate in MOH and/or USAID TB planning and coordination meetings and activities
- Work closely with the TB Technical Advisor to develop plans for coordination, implementation and monitoring of both pediatric and adult TB, TB/HIV collaborative and DR-TB care activities across the EC region
- Closely work with the Cluster M&E Officer and HIV/TB specialist to ensure that weekly, monthly and quarterly TB results are reported as per project reporting guidelines
- Participate in project meetings at cluster and central levels as fora for improving the quality of TB services and reporting
Key requirements/qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Medicine or a clinical discipline
- Additional training in TB and/or project management will be of added advantage
- At least 3 years of experience working in TB programs in Uganda
- Familiar with the Uganda MOH/National TB and Leprosy Program and PEPFAR strategies and current priorities for DS-TB and DR-TB (for both children and adults);
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; and
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills
Desired requirements:
- Working experience in East Central region is of added advantage
- Experience working with district health systems
