UBTEB Encourages P.7 leavers to enroll for Vocational Programmes

Inline with the National Development Plan II and Uganda Vision 2040, the Government of Uganda has prioritised vocational disciplines are key drivers of economic growth and development. The critical areas according to the NDP II include; ICT, Leisure and hospitality, Petroleum, Agriculture, service sector, Engineering, science and technology. The main focus is to produce graduates who posses requisite competencies and are able to innovate and compete globally.
UBTEB over the years through her competence based assessment and continuous assessment has witnessed steady progress in the numbers of candidates enrolling for Post O’level and A’Level vocational programmes as well as post PLE. We encourage parents and guardians to focus on demand driven programmes as they guide students to pursue career paths after each academic level. The Career Teachers and heads of primary and secondary schools should ensure that students are given detailed knowledge on the most promising careers in accordance with national development priorities. This would help to reduce redundant work force in labour market. The advantage of vocational proogrammes is based on the capacity to produce job creators given the practical and hands-on skills possed by vocational graduates.
