Below are what is needed in the various sector of work in Uganda
(Government & Diplomatic Service)
NB: Applicants should be persons contracted for service in the Government of Uganda or diplomats accredited for service in Uganda.
Application requirements:
Attach photocopies of the passport
2 passport size photos
Covering letter from the Embassy and a supportive letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs-Note Verbale.
(Government Contractors)
NB: Applicants should be persons on Government contracts, including persons serving in
Government tertiary institutions.

Academic qualifications for professionals
(Investment in Agriculture)
NB: Applicants should be persons intending to invest in the business of agriculture or animal husbandry.

Uganda Investment Authority License
Letter from Ministry of Agriculture regarding intended agriculture venture
Recommendation from LC’s or RDC’s office

NOTE: Applicants under this category can only enter Uganda after the grant and payment of their work permits.
How long does a work permit take to process in Uganda?
Typically, the procedure of work permit issuance for citizens in Uganda takes 1 month.
What is the period of validity of the work permit?
It will be valid for 5 years from the date of issuance or until the client’s passport expires (whichever comes first),
regardless of whether this date is beyond the expiry date for the work permit.
How do I renew my work permit in Uganda?
Attach a Covering letter from the company.
2 passport-size photos.
Photocopies of the permit in the passport and a copy of the bio-data page of the passport.
Bank statement.
Proof of Ugandans’ training.
List of Ugandans employed.
