Naggalama follows the curriculum preset by the Ministry of Education for secondary schools. All subjects are compulsory in S.1 and S.2 whereas some are optional at S.3. At A-Level, students are admitted for the subjects for which they will have excelled at UCE and in which their future career lies. Students are not allowed to change combinations without permission from the academic office. With the introduction of the new skill-based lower secondary curriculum by NCDC,the following are the electives from which students are supposed to choose, Agriculture, Literature in English, French, Luganda, Fine Art, ICT and Music

All the students are engaged in meaningful academic programmes through well planned and closely monitored teaching and learning to ensure adherence to the schemed work and syllabi completion throughout the academic year.
Our candidates are effectively taught and thoroughly prepared for U.C.E and U.A.C.E examinations which enables them to post good performance. The rest of the students are effectively taught and competently assessed.
Competence based Lower Secondary Curriculum for S.1 2020
The Ministry of Education and Sports introduced a new competence based curriculum designed by the National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC). The school started offering twelve subjects in S.1 of which eleven are compulsory while one subject is an elective. This curriculum requires a student to exit Ordinary level studies with a minimum of 8 subjects and a maximum of 9 of which 7 subjects will be compulsory. No sooner had the school embraced the new curriculum, than the government abruptly closed all schools. This adversely affected the implementation of this new academic programme before it could take root.

A candid and detailed analysis of U.C.E. and U.A.C.E. performance, juxtaposed with the candidates’ P.L.E. and U.C.E. entry results clearly indicates that the school continues to be a leading ‘high-value-addition’ institution. Relatively low P.L.E and U.C.E scores translates into high U.C.E and U.A.C.E results.
