A birth certificate is a vital record that documents the birth of a person. The term “birth
certificate” can refer to either the original document certifying the circumstances of the birth or to a certified copy of or representation of the ensuing registration of that birth.
Requirements For A Birth Certificate In Uganda
To get a birth certificate you need the following;
1-a birth notification record from the place of birth (ie, hospital, division, or sub-county).
2- Copies of the National IDs of both parents.
3- A bank payment receipt of 5000/- for the certificate.
Where can I apply for a Birth Certificate In Uganda?
Birth Certificates are issued at any NIRA Office at the District level, Regional level, or Headquarters in Kololo, Kampala by a NIRA Registration officer.
How long does it take to get a birth certificate in Uganda?
Upon notification of birth from the hospital or the community, and application by the declarant, a birth certificate is issued within 2 days.

A Birth Certificate is issued on request after registration at a prescribed fee of 5000 UGX.
