About Mutolere School of Nursing and Midwifery

Mutolere School of Nursing and Midwifery is a private not for profit Nursing Training school, affiliated to Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau, and belongs to Kabale Diocese. The school is registered by the Ministry of Education and Sports, Classified under Vocational Training with registration number ME/TVET/097.
It was started in 1984 with two disciplines running concurrently, both at Registered level, and Extension courses taking 1½ years. In 1994, Direct Entry Diploma Nursing Course taking 3 years was introduced.
In 2006 Certificate Comprehensive Nursing course was started taking 2 ½ years, after training six groups, it was phased out and replaced by Certificate Nursing and Certificate Midwifery courses both taking 21/2 years.
Currently the school is running the following courses; Diploma in Nursing/Midwifery (Extension) both for 1 ½ years, Diploma in Nursing (Direct entry) taking 3 years and Certificate in Nursing /Midwifery both taking 2 ½ years.

ACCOMMODATION AT THE SCHOOL
There are two hostels of residence for male and female students. Each student is admitted to the membership of one of these Halls. Each Fresher has accordingly been attached to a Hostel of Residence. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner is served to all resident students in the Dining hall at a specified time.
MEDICAL ACCESS
Mutolere NMTS is affiliated to St. Francis Hospital Mutolere which comprises of various units which render different services to the school and the whole Community. It offers both curative and preventive services. The dental unit offers extraction, scaling, polishing and filling-in services for the teeth, X-ray unit which deals with all X-ray diagnosis the Laboratory concerns itself with examining samples of blood, stool and Urine e.t.c.
COUNSELING AND GUIDANCE
The Counseling and Guidance Centre helps students who need assistance on guidance about their daily life problems which might hamper their steady progress in the academic field or prevent them from enjoying their life in general. Such problems embrace the whole range of health (Medical and psychiatric) problems, Socio-Economic, marital, sexual, academic, spiritual and other problems.RECREATION
There are number of recreation and sports activities at the school. The Department of Sports and Recreation offers welfare and sports skills services to the students through comprehensive, dynamic and exciting competitions with other schools scheduled to take place in the second Semester of the each academic year. The games include: Netball, Football and many others.
SPIRITUAL
St Francis Hospital Chaplaincy for Catholics offer Masses every Sunday in English and Kifumbira languages at 9:00 am in addition to a daily morning mass led by the hospital Chaplain from Monday to Saturday starting at 7:00am.
St Francis Hospital Chapel is located opposite the Hospital Main Administration Building in the centre of the Hospital where patients, attendants and staff can easily access the Services.
