The A Level (Advanced Level) is a subject-based qualification conferred as part of the General Certificate of Education, as well as a school leaving qualification offered by the educational bodies.

In Uganda, students receive the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) when they finish the 2-year upper secondary school which is also called the HSC. It is comparable to GCE A-Level in the UK.

Is A levels or IB better?

However, the IB curriculum focuses more on the coverage of comprehensive, range of subjects. Unlike the ‘A’ Levels, it focuses more on the rigorous amount of coursework in IB. In other words, your child will always be evaluated, by providing consistent work throughout the year and will take the final examination.

What is an A level equivalent to?

A NVQ at Level 3 is the equivalent to doing A-levels and from there you can go on to study for a higher qualification, such as a foundation degree, HND, HNC or undergraduate degree. Leads to? Apprenticeship; another job; further education; college or university place.
