Below is how to check your Nin number online in Uganda

Dial *216# then OK.

Select option 5, Check NIN.

Opt for option 1, My NIN or option 2, Child NIN.

Enter your surnamegiven name and date of birth.

Your NIN will display on your screen in a few micro seconds.

Choose to copy it down or save it on your phone for future purpose.

What documents do I need for my NIN registration?

Below are the needed document for NIN registration

BVN

Old National ID Card

Valid Immigration documents

Voter’s Card (Temporary and permanent are both accepted)

Tax Clearance certificate

Nigerian International Passport

Staff ID card from a registered and recognised private organisation

Certificate of Origin

Government staff ID card

Attestation letter from a prominent community or religious ruler in your community

Birth certificate or declaration of age

NHIS ID card

How long does it take to validate NIN after registration?

The normal time frame for issuance of National Identification Number (NIN) Slip is 2 to 3 working days from the time the biometric details are captured at enrolment centers.

The issuance of NIN may take longer in certain cases due to validation of details at NIMC.

How do I know if my NIN is valid?

Visit the official NIN Verification Portal via https://nimc.gov.ng/verification-service-api/ Scroll to “Verify NIN” and click on it.

Enter your 12-digit NIN number into the required column.

After entering your NIN number, type in the security code into the required column.

Can I registered NIN twice?


Once you enroll and your National Identification Number (NIN) is presented to you, the Automated Biometric Information System (ABIS)

will store all your information supplied and any attempt to enroll again by the same person will be detected and this a punishable offence.

How do I revalidate my NIN online?

Below are steps for R activation

A. Due to Loss

  1. Applicant presents his NIN slip or NIN for verification.
  2. Applicant presents a police report for his stolen, lost or missing e-ID card.
  3. Applicant completes form for e-ID card replacement/renewal.
  4. Verification of the applicant’s NIN using the NIMC NIN verification service.
  5. Verification of the applicant’s signature on application form for match to that on the verification portal.
  6. Applicant presents evidence of (REMITA) payment of applicable fee of N5,000.00 only

B. Due to Bad Chip or Damage to Card or Expiration

  1. Applicant presents his NIN slip or NIN for verification.
  2. Applicant presents the damaged or expired e-ID card for NIMC’s visual inspection.
  3. Where applicant is unable to provide the damaged or expired e-ID card, a police report of loss or missing e-ID card must be presented to NIMC.
  4. Applicant completes form for e-ID card replacement/renewal.
  5. Verification of the applicant’s NIN using the NIMC NIN verification service.
  6. Verification of the applicant’s signature on application form for match to that on the verification portal.
  7. Applicant presents evidence of (REMITA) payment of applicable fee of N5,000.00 only
