How long does it take to become an artisan?

Their training will include a combination of theory and on-the-job training. The duration of an Apprenticeship varies from 18 to 36 months.

Once a candidate has gathered enough on-the-job training combined with theoretical knowledge, they then gain access to a Trade Test.

Which artisans are in demand in Uganda?

The survey revealed that the top four economically viable handicraft products produced by most of the artisans in Uganda are leather and leather products 

(20 per cent), followed by basketry, mats and jewellery at 18 per cent, 13 per cent and 11 per cent, respectively.
