Makerere University School Reopen Date

KAMPALA —Makerere University has announced that all students will resume their studies.

This is after government approved the university to conduct online classes even as other students and learning institutions remain closed over COVID-19.

Makerere University Vice Chancellor, Prof Barnabas Nawangwe, however, announced the resumption of studies at Makerere University, will mainly be online.

Medical students return to campus on August 16th, while the rest of the students will continue studies online.

Final year students resume studies August 30 while all others who complete exams, will resume studies on September 27th.

“The intention is we should complete the academic year within this calendar year,” Prof Nawangwe said.

He added: “So that next year we can move on to the next academic year.

President Yoweri Museveni approved the re-opening of institutions with final year students undertaking health-related training.

The National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) has also set tight guidelines them.

The guidelines say all students will be required to attend a mandatory coronavirus (COVID-19) training in infection prevention and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
