Gulu University is a Public University established by Statutory Instrument No. 16 of 2003. The University was set to serve as a launchpad for equitable development in Uganda providing knowledge and skills and stimulating innovations in education, technology, economic advancement, and social development. The University is located in Gulu City with campuses in Kitgum District, Hoima City, and a Constituent College Project in Moroto District.

A. ACADEMIC POSITION(S)
POSITION: PROFESSOR (FACULTY OF LAW)
No. of Vacancies: 1 (One)
Salary Scale: M3 (Teaching Non-Science)
Reports To:  Dean Faculty of Law

Job Purpose:
To provide professional leadership in the development and implementation of the University’s Faculty of Law academic programmes and learners in his/her specialized discipline.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
a) Reviews, develops, and implements new methods of instructions to reflect changes in the Law curriculum.
b) Instructs and evaluates the performance of learners/students in the specific area of specialization.
c) Conducts academic research and publishes research findings which contribute to the University research profile.
d) Develops and presents Academic research proposals for funding
e) Provides technical backup support to other academic staff in the area of specialization.
f) Participates in the University curriculum review and development in his/her area of specialization.
g) Supervises and evaluates the performance of post graduate students‟ academic research.
h) Examines students which includes setting, marking, grading and submission of results as per Senate policy.
i) Performs any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Person Specifications:
Must be a Uganda citizen who possesses the following:
a) Must be a holder of PhD in Law related discipline from a recognized University
b) Must be a holder of Master‟s Degree in Law from a recognized University
c) Must be a holder of Bachelor of Laws from a recognized University
d) Postgraduate Diploma in Legal practice.
Either
e) A Professor from a recognized University
Or
f) At least three (3) years of University teaching experience after appointment as Associate Professor in a recognized University.
a. Must have successfully supervised at least three graduate students and one PHD Student.
b. Should have evidence of continuous research including having published at least five (5) articles in peer reviewed journals and book chapters or three books with ISBN Number from reputably recognized publishers.
Or
g) Minimum of five (5) years University teaching experience.
a. Must have successfully supervised at least three graduate students and one of which must be PhD Student.
b. Should have evidence of continuous research including having published at least twenty-one (21) articles in peer reviewed journals and book chapters or three books with ISBN Number from reputably recognized publishers.
h) Should have contributed to community service.

Job Purpose:

b) Must be a holder of Master of Medicine (M.Med) Internal Medicine degree or equivalent from a recognized University.
c) Must be a holder of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree or equivalent from a recognized University.
d) Must be registered with Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners‟ Council, with a valid practicing license.

(b)Or a Master of Arts in Literature, or a Master of Arts in English Linguistics: Holders of either of the qualifications in (b) should have evidence of scholarly engagement in the alternative discipline beyond their Bachelor‟s degree through either conducting research or enrolment in a postgraduate Programme of study.
iii. At least a Second Class Upper Division Bachelor‟s Degree with English Language and Literature as the main subjects;

a) The develops and delivers ICT Services, in accordance with agreed service levels and performance standards, industry best practices and in alignment with the University’s objectives and national strategic initiatives.
b) Controls and manages ICT budgets and capital expenditure, ensuring expenditure within the ICT function is appropriately managed, based on lean management principles, quality of service commitment and performance management.
c) Provides ICT technical guidance on the negotiation, procurement and supply of ICT goods and services to the University in conjunction with the procurement, finance and legal professionals at the University.
d) Oversees all management matters within the ICT function.
e) Ensures that effective ICT provisions are in place to support the needs of the University.
