Call for Applications

The Academic Registrar, Nkumba University invites applications from Ugandan, East African, and all international students for Undergraduate programmes for this year’s August Intake.

Undergraduate Admission requirements

Presently, there are three avenues of entry to the University. These are: The Direct Entry Scheme, The Diploma Holders Entry Scheme and the Mature Age Entry Scheme. These guidelines are in line with the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) recommendations.

Applicants for Degree programmes should hold:

Direct Entry Scheme

  1. At least 5 passes at Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent;
  2. At least 2 principal passes at Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent.

Diploma holders

  1. Hold a Credit or Second-Class Diploma in the relevant field from a recognized institution as determined by the University Senate.
  2. At least a Pass (50%) in Mature Entry Examinations.

Mature age Entry

  1. The applicant should be 25 years of age and above;
  2. Must have passed mature age entry examinations organized by the National Council for Higher Education.

Other

  1. A certificate obtained after 2 years of post UCE study;
  2. Any equivalent qualifications besides UCE and UACE.

Applicants for Diploma programmes should hold:

  1. A Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with a minimum of 5 passes obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent.
  2. Uganda Advanced Level Certificate (UACE) with at least one Principal Pass, and 2 subsidiary passes obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent.
    Or
  • A certificate obtained after 2 years of post UCE study from a recognized institution;
    Or
  1. Any equivalent Certificate besides UCE and UACE from a recognized institution.

Applicants for Certificate programmes should hold:

  1. A Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with a minimum of 5 passes obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent.
  2. A Uganda Advanced Level Certificate (UACE) with at least 3 subsidiary passes obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent;

How to apply:

Applications forms are available at a non-refundable fee for both the Postgraduate programmes and the Undergraduate programmes from the Office of the Academic Registrar. You may pay for these forms by cash or bank draft.

Follow these steps to apply online

  1. Applicants should access the Institution’s Admissions portal here.
  2. SIGNUP using your Full Name, E-mail and Mobile Phone Number. (Please note that your name must be similar to the one on your supporting academic documents for your application to be considered valid).
  3. A password will be sent to both your e-mail and mobile phone number.
  4. The system will prompt you to change the password to the one you can easily remember.
  5. Login and to fill a form, click on the APPLY NOW button displayed on the running scheme.
  6. Once all details are filled, click SUBMIT FORM.
  7. Obtain a payment advice slip by clicking on the “Pay for Form” button
  8. Make a payment in either DFCU, ABSA or STANBIC BANK
