In 1992, Educational Administration was made a distinct section, separate from Foundations of Education. The rationale being that more content beyond record keeping was needed in preparing aspiring administrators for the upcoming Muslim schools. In 1995, the University management introduced the five faculty structure and subsequently, the Faculty of Education was divided into the faculties of Education, Arts and Social Sciences, and Science.
The other two faculties are Islamic Studies and Arabic Language, Management Studies. At around the same time, substantive departments were created. The four sections in the Faculty of Education were elevated to departments, that is, Educational Psychology, Foundations of Education, Curriculum and Instruction, and Educational Administration and Planning, which later became Educational Management and Administration
