Job Summary: The Quantitative Research Analyst -Business Intelligence Division will provide a deep understanding of market drivers, opportunities and risks in order to create and maintain a competitive advantage and develop brand equity through quantitative research and market modeling

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct both desk and consumer survey data analysis and reporting as business operation dictate from time to time
  • Analyze raw data, write and interpret research reports for internal studies and summarize external ones
  • Set research data analysis guidelines in compliance with tested leading practices.
  • Identify and apply new global tools, methods and approaches in market research
  • Review questionnaires and other research tools and ensure compliance with tested leading practices.
  • Interpret research findings and distil key highlights from survey results. Present research findings to user departments/divisions/units as required.
  • Conduct regular reviews of all data sources and suppliers to ensure quality control.
  • Creates and updates comprehensive industry, competitor and customer models including, but not limited to, market share, growth projections and trends, and market forces.
  • Review trends in the telecommunications industry and provide insight into issues and events that could be factored into the business planning process as it affects MTN Uganda operations and services.
  • Develop forecasts for business planning, inventory decisions and network capacity planning
  • Identify information needs and research requirements and ultimately conduct market research to provide actionable information to drive revenue, profitability and customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct market and customer analysis review on MTN products via primary and secondary data information sources.
  • Build analytical tools/models for use in the formulation of research analysis
  • Provide geographical analysis and support about the needs and behavior of the customer, trade and traffic patterns
  • Manage competition benchmarking and geospatial analysis to highlight stronghold areas, (areas that require immediate attention, areas where competition aggressiveness is observed) and carry out all necessary measures to maintain /enhance our strength.
  • Integrate and analyze market research data, official statistics to adequately profile the market at both national and decentralized levels (territories, regions, circuits, etc)
  • Liaise with various national and local governmental agencies, research institutions and other organizations to access secondary data for a robust geo-marketing capability
  • Provide in-depth understanding of regional operational and financial performance

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant for the MTN Uganda Quantitative Research Analyst -Business Intelligence Division job must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Finance /Social Sciences, Economics/ Statistics/Mathematics/Computer Science and/or Business Management
  • Work experience in a research or consultancy environment will be an added advantage
  • Three years of experience conducting primary research for market segmentation studies, applying research
  • methodologies in gathering market and customer insights that inform products/services value
  • propositions and customer segment strategies
  • Experience in application of statistics, operations research, econometric modeling advantageous
  • Statistical methodologies and techniques
  • Demonstrated awareness of what information is relevant and how it drives and affects current
  • and future corporate strategies and overall goal(s) is also required.
