The Faculty of Forestry and Nature Conservation, Makerere University produces graduates with knowledge to address diverse forestry related issues. This has previously been achieved through the three undergraduate degree programs

BSc. Forestry

Bachelor of Community Forestry

BSc. Wood Science and Technology.

The School offers the following programs;

B.Sc. Food Science & Technology (4 Years)

B.Sc. Agricultural Engineering (4 Years)

Admission Requirement

To qualify for the degree of Bachelor of Conservation Forestry and Products Engineering, a full time student must undertake a minimum of 15 Credit Units (CU) and a maximum of 21 Credit Units (CU) per semester and 15 Credit Units per recess term and obtain a minimum total of 120 Credit Units within a maximum of five years

A candidate must satisfy the general minimum entrance requirements of Makerere University. Admission to the Bachelor of Commercial and Community Forestry course is through two avenues:  

1. Direct Entry   2. Diploma Entry Scheme   For purposes of computing entry points, the Advanced Level subjects shall be grouped and weighted as follows:

Direct Entry Candidates seeking admission through this avenue must have obtained:  

1. A credit in Biology and Geography, and at least a pass in Mathematics in the Uganda Certificate of Education (U.C.E.) Examinations or its equivalent,   

2. At least two principal passes at the Advanced Level, and  

3. The minimum weighted points set by the University Admissions Board. Diploma Entry Scheme A candidate may be admitted if she/he has a National Diploma or its equivalent of at least a Second Class standing or equivalent in Forestry, Horticulture, Agroforestry or Agriculture from a recognized institution.

Admission

Examinations will be done in the 16th and 17th weeks of the Semester.

i The Board of Examiners (composed of Internal Examiners) shall receive, consider and recommend to the Faculty Board the final examination results of each candidate.

ii The Board of Examiners   shall be chaired by the Dean of the Faculty and decisions taken shall be subject to ratification & approval by the Faculty Board.

iii The Faculty Board shall recommend the results of the Examinations to Senate for approval.
