The department has for two decades maintained a vibrant training programme in Journalism and Communication education in Uganda.The Department aims to continuously improve the quality of academic programmes, teaching, learning and research through regular curriculum and staff evaluations, controlled enrollment, student support services and staff development.We are home to the Bachelor’s of Journalism and Communication; the Postgraduate Diploma in Investigative Journalism; and the Master’s in Journalism and Communication. We also offer a Thesis-only Doctoral degree in Journalism and Communication.

Admission Requirement
Applicants under the scheme MUST be:
- Students of other recognised Universities and
- Possess the Makerere University minimum admission requirement
- Students of other institutions should apply through the Heads of their institutions.
- Candidates may apply for registration at any time and could be admitted at the beginning of any semester of the academic year.
- All applications must be addressed to the Registrar who shall, in consultation with relevant bodies within the University, register such students.
