UBTEB AND UIPE TO PARTNER

In view of the TVET policy reforms, the role of the employers is critical in provision of quality skills fit for the labour market in the 21st Century. In a meeting today held at UBTEB Secretariat today with the President of UIPE Eng.Vincent Ochwo, he expressed appreciation for the close collaboration with UBTEB over the years. “As UIPE, ewe are gratetulf to UBTEB for the great cooperation we have had over the years. The signing of the MOu will accelerate our greater interest in serving and making a contribution towards the achievement of the mandate of UBTEB” Eng.Ochwo stated.

Executive Secretary UBTEB CPA Onesmus Oyesigye appreciated the role and contribution of UIPE in setting engineering professional standards and pledged UBTEB’s support in furthering the interests of the professional body. Among areas of cooperation with UIPE will be tracer studies of UBTEB graduates, assessment of real life projects and other examinations processes of the Board that guarante quality assessment function.

Once in implementation, the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (UIPE) will provide substantial contribution in areas of certification of standards for various engineering professionals and Technicians that are assessed by UBTEB.

PROFILE OF UIPE

The Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (UIPE) was established as an association of Professional Engineers of Uganda in 1972, as a successor to the defunct East Africa Institution of Engineers (EAIE), which had started in 1945.
The objectives and purposes of the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers are to promote the general advancement of the science and practice of engineering and its applications, and to facilitate the exchange of information and ideas on those subjects amongst the members of the Institution.
VISION
To be the leading professional organisation in the region advocating for the best standards of engineering practice for sustainable development and the betterment of mankind.
Mission
The mission of UIPE is to promote higher engineering standards and the development and integration of engineering science and practiceinto public policy in Uganda.

UBTEB PROFILE

Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB) was established by the BTVET Act, 2008 and operationalized by Statutory Instrument 2009 No.9 (Establishment of the Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board). The Regulations mandate UBTEB to streamline, regulate, coordinate and conduct credible national examinations and award Certificates and Diplomas in the Business, Technical and Vocational/ specialized education or training in Uganda.
