Masaka School of Comprehensive Nursing Courses Offered

A) Direct Diploma Programmes – Course duration 3 years (November intake)

Diploma in Comprehensive Nursing
Diploma in Midwifery

This is a three year course offering both nursing and midwifery. It recruits both government and private students. For private students one must have a principal pass in biology (A’ level) and 2 subsidiary pass. Students have to be on full time
For the extension group, one must have a certificate in comprehensive nursing and a two year working experience. Students have to be on full time. They study for one and a half years (11/2 )

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for the direct entry into the Diploma in Nursing Programme, a candidate must satisfy the following admission criteria: –

O level Results: – Credits in the following subjects; English, Biology, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

A level Results:- A principal pass in Biology and two subsidiaries in Chemistry, Physics, Food and Nutrition and Mathematics. Apply using JAB forms

-Conform to the standards of Medical fitness by the Training Authority and Public Service.

B) Extension Diploma Programmes – Course duration 1.5 years (May intake)

Diploma in Nursing
Diploma in Midwifery
Diploma in Comprehensive Nursing

Entry requirements

To be eligible for either of the above courses, one must have enrolled with Uganda Nurses and Midwifery Council and with a working experience of at least 2years:

-Enrolled Nurse or Midwife– Should be at least in possession of “O” level certificate -Pass a pre-entry Ministry of Education and sports Oral and Written Interviews.

On successful completion of the State Final Uganda Nurses and Midwives Examinations Board (UNMEB) candidates are registered by Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC) and issued a practicing certificate.

E) Diploma in Midwifery (E-Learning)

This is a two year course whereby students study out of school using their e-learning content on the computers they get one week in a month to be at school for face to face consultations with their tutors.
